I can't help but wonder how many people in the world snickered a little when they read that the group taking credit for the assassination of Israeli cabinet member Rechavam Zeevi was the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Surely we were not the only ones. We just watched Life of Brian about two weeks ago and the whole "Popular Front" argument is Duff's favorite part.

The other black irony is that Zeevi had resigned from Sharon's cabinet and the resignation became official on the last day of his life. He resigned, incidentally, because too often he had disagreed with Sharon on policy issues. That is, Zeevi was the most right-wing member of the cabinet, and he thought Sharon was too moderate.
